A unique senior deck opportunity has become available on a highly professional 55m private MY that is based in Sydney year-round.

The position could suit a Lead deck or Bosun returning from abroad who is seeking life balance on a professionally run program while still progressing both experience and tickets

Ideally Australian or New Zealander – no visa holders due to limited employment duration.
Deck Department consists of Chief Officer, Bosun, 2 x Deckhands, Temp Deckhands.
The Bosun will need the skills and experience to lead the deck team in times that the Chief Officer is away from the vessel.
The yacht operates a with large 11m chase tender and a 5.2m Zodiac tender that the Bosun will be operating and maintaining.

The Ideal Candidate:

STCW 95 Certificate

AMSA or ENG1 Medical certificate.

Yacht Masters (or higher) or Australian commercial ticket (Class 5 or similar) qualification

Must have clean driver’s licence.

Currently located in Australia.

Presentable and understands superyacht hospitality.

Exceptional eye for detail.

Enjoys being hands on.

Happy to assist across departments when required.

Tender or boat driving experience.

Looking to expand on deck skills and knowledge.

Professional attitude and willingness to learn.

Salary: Depending on Experience – Includes AUD Salary + Superannuation, 4 weeks leave, , medical cover etc.

Sydney based (9-10 months) Pacific/Whitsundays (2-3 months)

A unique opportunity has become available for an experienced Bosun to go semi shore based in Sydney with one of Australia’s premier families.

The Bosun will run a small deck team and will occasionally step up to relieve as first officer.

The vessel operates a large chase tender and the bosun should have excellent vessel handling skills.

The yacht has a training program in place and will offer (over time with commitment)

Ticket progression to Master 4
Mentoring in Bridge / ISM
Docking / driving of the 45m

The Bosun should be extremely professional and have time in similar professional programs overseas or within Australia.

As the vessel is based in Sydney the crew are required to live ashore when not cruising with guests.

The position could suit a returning Bosun from overseas looking to establish themselves ashore in Sydney

The Ideal Bosun

3-5 years’ experience on Superyachts
Master 200gt or master 5 minimum
Tender Driving experience
Time in Europe Favourable
Can effectively run a small deck team
Looking for career progression (tickets & responsibility)
Longevity in previous roles
Can undergo a thorough background check
Full working rights for Australia
