An amazing opportunity has become available for an up & coming 2nd engineer to join a 60m expedition / scientific research vessel that is based within Australia between trips away.

Currently cruising Bali / Komodo region the vessel will soon return to Australia for a guest trip around the Kimberley.

The vessel is used for a mixture of private owner trips and scientific research.

Past science trips include: deep trench dives in the Indian Ocean & Ocean bed discovery missions in PNG.

The 2nd engineer’s counterpart has been with the program for sometime , as has the equal time Y1 chief engineers who the incoming 2nd will report into… plenty of opportunity for mentoring , learning & upgrading skills/ licenses.

The vessel largely operates private when in Australia but also operates commercial when in international waters.

Looking after a variety of HNW clients the stewardess will work across a small fleet of private Superyachts, working on an ongoing casual / freelance rate continuing well into the Perth Summer

Trip usage will roughly be 2-4 days / week paid on a day rate of $450 AUD / day (for 8-10 hour day) (when going out)

Anything over 10 hours paid at an hourly rate of $60 AUD / hour, $110 for overnight.

Trips are private only, mostly day excursions to Rottnest.

There is an extremely high standard aboard this yacht and the deckhand must be clean cut and presentable at all times.

While the position will involve the usual deckhand duties, the deckhand will also be mentored and trained in more senior responsibilities including bridge watches, anchoring, navigation, seamanship, crane operations, drills and big boat handling.
