Position Snapshot

• III/2 Chief Engineer
• 6 weeks On/Off + Flights
• Additional 4 weeks annual (work onboard 5 months / year)

An amazing opportunity has become available for an experienced superyacht chief engineer to join a 60m expedition / scientific research vessel that is based within Australia between trips away.

Cruising Amazing destinations like Bali / Komodo , PNG region the vessel also spends time in the remote Kimberley.

The vessel is used for a mixture of private owner trips and scientific research.

Past science trips include: deep trench dives in the Indian Ocean & Ocean bed discovery missions in PNG.

Replacing the outgoing chief engineer of several years the chief engineers counterpart has been with the program for some time also , the vessel’s engineering is in excellent shape , operating 2 X rotation Chiefs, 2 X rotation 2nds and 3rd engineer on a 3:1

The vessel largely operates private when in Australia but also operates commercial when in international waters.

The Ideal Candidate

• Trade qualified engineer
• III/2 COC
• Time as a Chief Engineer on superyachts
• Any additional skills AV/IT or electrical well received
• Hands on with their engineering
• Good project management skills
• Can effectively manage yard times
• Work Rights for Australia / NZ

Start: Flexible- Between November and February 2026

Salary: >$200k +  , Paid through the Australian System (AUD)

Rotation: 6 weeks on , 6 weeks off

Rotation Home port: Must be within Australia/NZ

Are you a sailing engineer with a passion for off the beaten track cruising?

Do you hold a minimum of a Y4 (or equivalent)?

Position Snapshot

• 6000-9000USD p/m
• 3 on, 3 off (Months)
• Own cabin
• Minimum Y4 or equivalent

A high performance 46m private SY is on the search for an experienced sail yacht engineer to join their fun and professional team.

The yacht is used for private use only, often spending large amounts of time in rarely travelled locations.

The owners thoroughly enjoy watersports (particularly diving), adventurous cruising and exploring.

The chief engineer should have excellent forward thinking in regards to repairs and spares and can come up with solutions when needed

Candidate Requirements:

• Y4 COC or equivalent
• Previous large sailing yacht experience essential.
• Active, adaptable, and intuitive, with the ability to operate effectively in remote cruising grounds.
• Comfortable working within a multinational crew environment.
• Strong technical and problem-solving skills
• A hands-on, team-oriented approach.

Start: Flexible (TBC)

Salary: 6000-9000USD p/m DOE

Rotation: 3:3 Months On/Off
